Maria DeAnda is an elected employee representative to the StanCERA Board. Maria graduated from Stanislaus State University in Turlock, California in 1983, with a degree in Political Science/Public Administration. Soon after graduating from college she began working for the Stanislaus County Department of Social Services. Since then Ms. DeAnda has moved on to the Department of Employment and Training where she supervised a unit of Job Search and Job Readiness Instructors, who's goal it is to teach others how to find a job.
During her 16 years as a County employee she has been a part of various committees and organizations, including time served as the vice-president of one of our local bargaining units and a Supervisory Committee member of the our local Credit Union. Maria continues to be a job steward. This connection keeps her in touch with the needs of the various employee groups in the county.
Maria's personal interests have always been in business. She currently runs a family business operation, which she owns together with her six sisters. Maria is not all about work, she also have hobbies. Maria also loves watching movies. On Fridays she can usually be found at the local theatre watching the latest release at bargain matinee prices, of course. In addition to movies Maria likes reading and music. Maria does have a very eclectic taste in both which gives me a wide variety to choose from.
