JOAN TROMBETTA CLENDENIN

 

 

Joan Trombetta Clendenin retired as a Social Worker at the Community Services Agency with 25 years of service. While employed she served on the Salida Elementary School Title 1 Advisory Board, the Alcohol Advisory Board, as an alternate member of the county Discipline Appeals Board, SEIU Shop Steward, chaired the Social Services Review Committee and was a member of the 1992 Civil & Criminal Grand Jury.
 
Since her retirement in 1992, she has volunteered with numerous county, state civic and professional organizations and received the Modesto Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award for 2008.
 
She has been actively involved with the Retired Employees of Stanislaus County [RESCO], promoting and assisting in legislative efforts to improve the lives of 37-Act retirees. She served 3 terms as president and almost 15 years as Legislative Chair attending conferences and seminars to enhance her knowledge and understanding of retirement issues. For 2 years, she was vice president of California Retired County Employees Association [CRCEA], a statewide association of 37-Act Counties. As CRCEA’s Legislative Chair and a member of the SACRS Legislative Committee, she worked on legislation that gave RESCO a greater voice on the retirement board and created the Alternate Retiree Representative position.
 
Joan was born, reared and educated in Modesto. She has an Associated Arts degree from Modesto Junior College [1965] and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Political Science from Stanislaus State College [1967]. She has been married to Gerald “Jerry” Clendenin for 42 years. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a partner at Clendenin Bird & Company. They have two children: Robert and Christina; son-in-law Mathew Bamrud; and two grandsons Finn and Luke.
