DARIN GHARAT
Mr. Gharat was born and raised in Modesto; he graduated from Modesto High School, received an AA from Modesto Junior College in Criminal Justice and received a B.A. in Management from St Mary’s College of California. Mr. Gharat is married and enjoys restoring antique cars in his leisure time. In 1996, he joined the County and has served as a Patrol Supervisor, Chief Deputy Coroner and Operations Lieutenant, and currently is the Chief of Police Services from the City of Waterford.
 
Mr Gharat stated that his tenure at the County has provided him with many opportunities. One of his favorites was meeting his wife Stacy while working as a bailiff. He has served as president of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association and has been involved with the Academic Decathlon. He currently is serving on the board of the Stanislaus County Police Activities League (PAL), CASA of Stanislaus County and the Retirement Board.
 
As an elected member of the Retirement Board, he is also responsible for representing public safety members of the system. His primary duties include financial and fiduciary oversight of a system of over 1 billion dollars in member assets.
